Weight lifting but not for weight loss with Sasha Williams!

Sasha Williams is hands down one of the most fascinating women I've ever spoken with. Raised in a small town in Colorado, she has a rich cultural background coming from immigrant parents and having lived in Ukraine, Maui, and even Japan. In the episode, Sasha provides compelling personal accounts of her upbringing - a parallel to the stories I have heard from countless clients of immigrant families - how it led her to trying harmful diets for 'health' or weight loss, and ultimately how she's come to approach fitness. Sasha was a powerlifting coach, certified personal trainer turned ski instructor and now ski patroller on Aspen Mountain. She is graceful with her prose, vulnerable with her ongoing efforts, and super freaking fun to learn from.

If you're a Roaring Fork Valley local and want to take a free powerlifting class with her this summer, you can message me on my website and we will fill you in on the details!

If you are looking for a weight-inclusive coach, therapist, or dietitian, I encourage you to visit my website at aspennutritiontherapy.com, and check out the following sources discussed in the episode:

Book: The Obesity Paradox : When Thinner Means Sicker and Heavier Means Healthier

Danish Study: Change in Body Mass Index Associated With Lowest Mortality in Denmark, JAMA (2016)
Buzzfeed vid: Health Nuts Swap Diets With Junk Food Addicts. American video, Indian video
