🧠 The Trickier Rules (Illegal Move Exercise)

Illegal Move Exercise: The audio will lead you through a series of moves from the beginning of a game. Somewhere in there, a player will make an illegal move but the game will continue anyway. Find the illegal move.

PGN for today's exercise:

  1. e4 d5 2. e5 c5 3. c3 Nc6 4. d4 h5 5. e6 f5 6. exf6 gxf6 7. Bd3 e5 8. dxe5 fxe5 *

And the answer is...
White’s move 6. exf6 is illegal as that’s not how en passant works. White’s pawn needed to be on e5, and not e6, to capture on f6 with en passant.
