I've been personal training or coaching both online and in person on the gym floor since 2020 and let me tell you - I have many a mistake that has harmed both my clients and my business (I don't think it's possible not to).
A lot of the mistakes I made I learned from other coaches and from the industry itself, which shouldn't come as a surprise since most of what the fitness industry promotes is of course pretty toxic.
From talking about calories and a 'calorie deficit' all the time, pushing clients to take progress pictures, not understanding my clients and being naive enough to think I can help everybody lose weight and not regain it just by getting them to track their food intake.
I break down everything and the common mistakes most other personal trainers will fall into. Like chasing followers, letting their ego get in the way of coaching or believing they deserve to make more money without being a good coach.
It's a very flawed industry and if you want to help your clients get confident in the gym and ultimately be happier with themselves - you're gonna have to go against the rest of the industry!
