Short and sweet... just wanted to say hi and happy Leo season. Summer has me feeling super carefree and in party mode. This rain has me boo’d up. Help me understand how you deal with being born of this country and still be shunned because you are some shade of brown. I’m a legal outsider (had to put that out there Cuz don’t need those people knocking on my door if you know what I mean) but truthfully would love to understand the Black experience a lot more. The fact that this is a topic of conversation has really got me twisted. Holla at your girl. And happy birthday to all my Cancerian babies.

Yeah a famous white lady actually said those words to me recently. You really have to be careful who you spend time with and who you let speak to you. There’s always some kind of mind f*ckery going on. Someone always trying to plant ideas into your head. It’s the invasion of the body snatchers out here for real.

In light of the recent sad news of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, a lot of questions come to mind. The older I get the more I feel a little overwhelmed with the day to days of life. It’s a hamster wheel effect of geeezus is this all there is? Wash, rinse, repeat?? After getting hit with a huge unexpected car repair bill, the anxiety crept in and grabbed a hold of me for like four days. It was suffocating. Didn’t feel like be social, couldn’t focus on anything else and still I had to power through it. It made me wonder could something like finances really unhinge me into doing the unthinkable. Can the same be said for loneliness or some other bluesy feeling? Great that light is being shed on mental illness and suicide. Sad that it takes for some big name players to take their lives in order for the conversation to be one worth having. My heart goes out to anyone who is or was affected by the suicide of a loved one. Maybe it’s time we redefine “social networking” and really get social.

After all these months I have caved in to Bambi eyes of my stepmother and her island cooking. Lawd help me! I have to get back on track. Support is key and the only way to be successful in my quest for cleaner eating is to be accountable for myself and my health. Since I know better, the responsibility to show others is mine. There was a time when balance existed in the media. For every tv show or song that had explicit anger churning lyrics, there were the wholesome grounded shows and songs that wrapped you in good vibes. VH1 has become the home of most ratchet tv shows next to Bravo. Stereotypes out the ying yang being reinforced every week. Backstabbing, drink throwing, men cheating, side chick baby having “ratchetness”. This is my revelation and possible cure to what I used to think was entertainment.
