Did you know, there hasn't been a Sheriff in Miami-Dade County in almost 60 years. Well, in January of 2025, the Miami-Dade Police Department became the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO). With that, there’s a new Sheriff in town!! This month, Joe sits and talks with Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz. The MDSO is the largest sheriff’s office in the southeastern United States and operates out of eight district stations throughout Miami-Dade County. They discuss the differences between a Police Department and a Sheriff’s Office, and the benefits of having an elected Sheriff. They also discuss the changes that Sheriff Rosie has made and her plans for the future of MDSO in this transition during her first term.
