It's SEASON 2! In Episode 2 we are joined by Mila Smith! Mila is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa and signed to Platoon - an artist services, A&R, and music distribution company owned by Apple Inc. With diary-style lyrics that peel back the curtain on her personal experiences, Mila has a soulful heart-on-sleeve sound and soaring emotional vocals that express a maturity and storytelling ability beyond her young years. We've worked with Mila a few times, and love her perspective, passion and attitude, beyond her obvious talent, so we just had to have her on as a part of season 2 of the CAYACast! In this episode, we'll be diving into Mila's musical journey from her high-school band roots to her experience writing with some of the biggest names in South African music, growing her confidence and breaking past imposter syndrome, the importance of knowing your craft and holding your own creatively. The purpose of this podcast is to share stories of the stories of people making a difference in the Cape Town and wider South African creative industries, whose work we love and want to share!
