August 2017: Hurricane Harvey struck not only Texas, but also our lives. In search for cancer treatment, we set on an arduous journey from India to MD Anderson Texas, but had to divert to Chicago and then San Francisco due to Hurricane Harvey.
I knew from the beginning that something was not right. We were first not getting approval from the offshore hospital. When we got the approval after insisting a lot, our visas got stuck. When we got the visa by flying across three cities - all within 14 hours - we were about to miss our flight to Texas. And when we finally got onboard, we were diverted to Chicago and then San Francisco.
The journey was difficult, but we went against all odds to save that one life because we knew that this could be the beginning of a new journey.
