The Teen Series, Part 3: Building Confidence and Self-Esteem

Confidence and self-esteem play a huge role in how we experience the world, and how we experience ourselves. They influence how we think, how we act, and how we connect with others. For teens, these inner foundations are especially important as they shape identity, resilience, and the ability to thrive in the face of everyday challenges.

In this episode, we unpack what confidence and self-esteem really are (and how they’re different), why they matter so much during the teen years, and practical, real-life strategies to help build both. Whether you’re a teen navigating this yourself or a parent supporting someone you love, this conversation is here to guide you with care and clarity.

This is the third episode in our four-part series created especially for teens. If you know a young person who could use some encouragement, invite them to tune in, whether they’re on their way to school, taking a screen break, or winding down at the end of the day.

In this episode:

  • The real difference between confidence and self-esteem

  • How low self-esteem can show up (and how to shift it)

  • Five simple strategies to build self-worth and inner strength

  • What it means to practice self-compassion

  • How social media affects self-esteem, and how to use it mindfully

  • The power of small wins and celebrating your progress

  • Choosing relationships that support your growth

Next week wraps up our teen series with a big one - Coping with Anxiety and Overcoming Fears. You won’t want to miss it.

The Centred Home and Mind clinic is here to support families with compassionate, practical help for navigating life’s relationships. Now welcoming new clients in East Brisbane, Queensland.
