Building a tutoring business - with Caroline Bowmer

Today we are joined by Caroline Bowmer, who left a 15 year career in science teaching in 2019 to start her own business, Alchemy Education, an online education company.

Caroline and her team use a transformative programme of tutoring, exam technique and mindset coaching to help students to reach their potential and get their best possible GCSE and A Level exam results.

We talk about:

  • Caroline’s teaching experience and how much she loved being a teacher
  • How grief can make you reconsider your career path
  • The need for flexible working when you have a young family
  • How teaching isn’t a very family friendly career
  • Building a tutoring business as a side project
  • Growing her business to replace and exceed her teaching salary
  • Managing a team of tutors
  • The importance of mindset and a strong support network
  • Recognising your transferable skills
  • Leaving teaching and building a life that is more balanced and rewarding

You can find Caroline’s website here: https://alchemy-education.com/
