Hello, and welcome back to Episode 95! As you’ve probably noticed, I haven’t been sharing new podcast episodes regularly, but today, I’m bringing you a conversation with Sara Duigou. I invited Sara to chat about overwhelm, the busyness of every day life, and more importantly, we chatted about ways that can help us to slow down and come back to centre. I always enjoy my conversations with Sara, and this time was no different.
This is Sara’s second time on the podcast, and her first conversation was on episode 74.
I hope you can take something away from our conversation today, and if you’re craving moments to pause, and reconnect, I highly recommend Sara’s self-led course, Moments of Connection.

80: Building a new career and sharing your story with Hazel Gardiner
Today’s guest is Hazel Gardiner - a florist and design stylist, with a background in creative arts and TV production. Hazel has used her unique experience to create installations for companies such as Channel 4, and Arcadia to name a few, and we chat about Hazel’s journey to starting her business, using video as a marketing tool and I also ask Hazel about her relationship with nature as it’s something that feeds into her work.
We also talk about Hazel’s journey with cancer - I know that this can be a sensitive topic if you or loved ones are going through treatment, so I just wanted to give you a heads up.
Things we talked about:
- The journey from selling vintage clothing and falling out of love with it, to finding a new career path
- How a cancer diagnosis made Hazel reassess her work and life
- Setting up the floristry business - and being open to all types to projects in order to find your true style
- Cultivating the confidence to follow what you really want to do
- The importance of finding out what you don’t want to do
- Having the courage to share your story and leading the way for conversations around the BLM movement and diversity in the florist industry
- Utilising video as a powerful way to connect with your audience
