Welcome to Burning Passion, the podcast where we explore the relationship between burnout in modern-day society & the mind-body connection. Whether you’re navigating the challenges of burnout, aiming to improve your health and wellbeing this year, or seeking practical tools to thrive, this space is for you. Our priority is making the burnout conversation more accessible and inclusive (especially for marginalized communities) - serving those who benefit from it most. Most burnout podcasts only cover the surface-level aspects: like "just do less!" or "more self care," but we recognize the social determinants of health, societal messaging, and lack of community- as key contributing factors. If typical mainstream advice feels invalidating or limiting, we're here for you. Join us as we deep dive into topics like: -differentiating burnout from exhaustion -hyper-individualism in culture + how we can create community -expanding your "window of tolerance" -the role of fitness in building resilience -nervous system health and self-regulation strategies -the interplay between identity and burnout. Each episode is designed to spark meaningful conversations, build connections and create a community of support, and inspire actionable change. With a mix of expert insights, real-world stories, and practical tips and resources, Burning Passion will empower you to transform your experience of burnout into a catalyst for growth and wellbeing. Make that cuppa, get cozy and join us for a conversation that goes deeper than surface-level self-care.

Episode 5: Creating Safety & Expanding your "Window of Tolerance"

Today’s topic centers around window of tolerance - what it is, why it’s relevant to the burnout conversation, how you can grow your window - and gain self-regulation tools when you veer outside of it.

The “window of tolerance” is a crucial tool in understanding your capacity + how that relates to your nervous system state. Expanding it allows you to adapt to daily stressors, increase your resiliency, and gain self-awareness, so you can prevent burnout in the long run.

Self-regulation is an integrative, mind-body experience. Here we share some self-regulation tools, for both ends of the spectrum (hypo and hyper arousal), so you can keep expanding your window of tolerance & return to baseline, in your daily experiences. We believe that movement is essential in developing that internal awareness + helping our nervous systems establish safety - and share both our experiences & professional lens, to equip you in your journey.
