The Frank Levi Story: Inside the Legendary S.I.R. Amps with Brian Zircon
Frank Levi worked with the whose who of Rock and chances are you’ve heard his amps on your favourite albums or tours.
Of course, no story about Frank is complete without mentioning the famous Marshall S.I.R. rental amps—the mystery machines that fueled some of the greatest recordings and tours of the ‘80s and ‘90s.
For years, fans and players alike have debated: who actually modded what and what models were used on GnR's Appetite for Destruction. Today, we’ll go straight to the source and dive into the history around numbers 34, 36 and the missing 39. Backed up by Franks own S.I.R paperwork and schematics.
Joining me is Brian Zircon, Frank’s apprentice who has been entrusted to continue the legacy of his work and offer his personal insight to Franks history. Brian has also been working with remaining members of the Doors and shares some information around the Hammond organs used by the band.
To close out the podcast, Brain gives us some audio directly off one of Franks creations.
