Gender roles have shaped our society in ways we don't even realize. Stereotypes and conditioning that most of us don't even realize we have can impact us and those around us in personal and professional environments. Ever wondered why there are more male leaders versus women? Or how the same emotion is associated differently for men versus women? Or even how there is a difference in perception and thus vocabulary to describe the same actions when taken by a man versus a woman? In this episode we discuss this in detail and some of our experiences in the past. Our findings have also been backed by research and we discuss that in this episode as well. If you have ever been told "to think like a man", "you are too emotional", "you won't make a good leader, you are too bossy!" then you are not alone! Men are told they strong, confident, ambitious, empathetic and assertive while women end up being told they are emotional, sensitive, selfish and bossy. Society and the conditioning we grow up with can make it seem like a strong woman is stepping out of what is familiar and thus must be wrong. Let's break these stereotypes, stand against them so we share our experiences and power lies in numbers!
