The Ohio State Buckeyes completely annihilated the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon, 63-10. Certainly the score suggests the game wasn't particularly competitive, but the stats and individual performances on both sides of the ball suggest the Buckeyes took a big step forward. Kyle McCord was incredibly efficient, completing 19-of-23 passes for 318 yards and three touchdowns. He connected on a couple of really long throws and routinely hit receivers in perfect rhythm. It wasn't a flawless performance from McCord, but it was darn close. Marvin Harrison Jr. ended the day with five catches for 126 yards and a touchdown, while Emeka Egbuka caught four passes for 57 yards and two scores. But equally as impressive was the defensive side of the ball. The Silver Bullets recorded eight tackles for loss, six pass break ups, forced three fumbles, intercepted two passes and scored two touchdowns. In both respects, it was the kind of performance the Buckeyes needed as they get ready to head to South Bend next weekend.
