CRISPR Cas-9 is one of the biggest scientific breakthroughs to happen in our lifetime, and it has the capacity to completely revolutionize medical treatment options. Today we have on Dr.Cal Ur Science Pal on to help explain the fascinating mechanisms behind CRISPR and the ethical concerns that come with its introduction to the scientific community and the field of medicine.
Dr.Cal (dr.cal.ur.science.pal on Instagram and TikTok) is a science communicator specialising in genetics and cellular/molecular biology. She completed her BSc in molecular biology in Florida before spending two years as a research fellow at the US National Institute of Health. She then moved to London to complete a PhD project on CRISPR DNA editing and question lipid-based nanoparticles for a human disease treatment.
