Hey guys! I’m Dr. Baby, the Brown Girl in Beijing! I’ve been in Beijing since the Summer of 2018 and it’s been a ride ever since. I’ve loved living in Beijing and while it is definitely different from my hometown of The Bahamas, it’s been a wild and wonderful ride. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. And I’m here for the foreseeable future, so why not let you all get a look into the random and, sometimes, weird experiences that I have?

We Three Bears - The Accent Challenge

Hey, y’all!

Today, I’m joined by my shadows. They’re often in the peanut gallery, or even behind the camera(s), but they’re front and center with me for this episode! Meet Lolo and Zozo, two of my daughters here in Beijing. They talk a little bit about themselves and how they navigate the city as students, and then we get into the dialect and accent challenge. Admittedly, I get passionate at one or two points during the episode, but it’s all in love, and they still love me back, thankfully.

Lolo hails from Antigua and Barbuda in the West Indies, while Zozo comes to us from Mozambique, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in Africa. We find that while we’re from two different parts of the world, our speech is still strongly linked to each other in some ways. Maybe we can try this again with more expats in a future season!
