Sara's Broad of the Year - the woman who has made the most profound impact on women and women's rights this year is none other than Giséle Pelicot. This week saw the conclusion of the criminal trial against her ex-husband who drugged her without her knowledge, and 50 other men who r@ped her when she was drugged over the course of a decade. Giséle made the incredible choice to not only NOT remain anonymous, as most victims do in these proceedings, but ALSO to insist that the press and public be allowed into the courtroom, and that the video evidence of the crimes be played for all in the courtroom. This four-month trial has shaken France, but Giséle's actions have moved the women of France to stand up and speak out against the was women are treated in French society, and by the judicial system, the police and the hospitals.
