Universities and colleges across the UK are planning to deliver a virtual curriculum, with little if any face-to-face contact. This will make motivation more challenging, particularly with less exposure to industry guest lecturers, who normally provide inspiration to students during their studies.
In response to these issues, the British Beauty Council is launching a podcast series featuring interviews with some of the biggest names in the hair and beauty industry to discover how they have got to where they are today. From key lessons learnt along the way, to what advice they would give their younger selves, this podcast series aims to educate and motivate those starting out in the industry or wanting a career change.

In this week's episode, our President of Education Pillar, Elizabeth Barnett Lawton, talks to Andrew Perera, Partner/Managing Director of PR company, Brandstand Communications. With over 20 years experience in the Beauty industry and having worked with some of the biggest brands in the world, it’s fair to say that Andrew is a true PR maven.
After finishing school, Andrew had very little idea of what career path he wanted to take. Like a lot of his friends, Andrew decided to study Business at college which he then continued through to university. A year into his university course, Andrew recognized the lack of creativity and excitement on his course. He decided to swap courses and went on to study Design Communications where he truly found his place.
