Pre-Pod: The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini

***Due to unforeseen circumstances, this episode is a week late. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Welcome back to Bringing Reading Back’s second season, “Sh!t You’d Read in Lit!” This is the PrePod episode for our second book, Khalid Hosseini’s bestseller, The Kite Runner. Set at the beginning of the occupation of Afghanistan, The Kite Runner follows the story of a young boy named Amir. Throughout the book, Amir must deal with jealousy, racism, and the horrors brought to Afghanistan by the occupation of both the Russian army and the Taliban. After fleeing Afghanistan to immigrate to the United States, Amir must eventually return to the land of his birth and come to terms with pieces of his past he does not want to remember.

Content/Trigger Warning: sexual assault, suicide, infertility, miscarriage, acts of violence, war crimes, and racism.
