Bridge design & engineering: Podcast #2, Tina Vejrum, President-elect, IABSE

For this episode, we flew from the UK to Denmark to meet Tina Vejrum, who has been elected by the Permanent Committee of IABSE as President for the 2022-25 period. She is currently one of IABSE’s Vice Presidents and Vice President of COWI's International Bridge Department.

We talked about her journey into bridge engineering; what it has been like working for a large international firm like COWI since she joined in 1996; her involvement with some of the world's most iconic long-span bridges; current mega-projects in China; areas of research being pursued at COWI; the use of technology in the field; what she hopes to achieve as President when her tenure starts in November this year; sustainability; and how engineers can contribute to the challenges faced across the world today.

This is a wide-ranging discussion, and we would like to thank Tina for being so generous with her time, and COWI for its hospitality at its impressive headquarters north of Copenhagen.
