This episode takes you courtside with Kobie and Regi, who served in Heubach, Germany, this past summer. For eight years, Breakaway’s camp there had focused on baseball—but this summer, basketball was added for the first time, and the impact was beyond what anyone imagined. Through a unique collaboration with local schools, over 250 students—including several Ukrainian refugee youth—heard the Gospel and experienced the love of Christ through sport.
Join us as we sit down with Regi and Kobie, two missional leaders whose stories embody the heart of Breakaway Outreach. Regi has spent nearly 30 years using basketball to reach youth in juvenile centers, schools, and communities across the U.S.—and this summer marked his first overseas mission. Kobie’s journey began as a 9-year-old Breakaway camper when both his parents were incarcerated; today, he’s a young leader helping others find hope through sports.
Together, they share what God did in Germany, what it means to see sports become a global tool for evangelism, sports camps as a Gospel refuge, and how redemption and purpose can emerge from troubled pasts.
