Felecia Howell, a licensed therapist, shares with us the disparity that the black & brown community face when seeking therapy. There’s not only a stigma within the community at times around seeking help, but the lack of minority therapists FOR minorities makes the issue even more complex. Simply put, these conditions can make it harder for those seeking help to get it. While race isn’t the only thing that determines a good fit for a therapist and client, a level playing field would allow the opportunity for individuals to pair with therapists that may better understand their condition from a similar cultural lens.
