Pavlovs Dogs and Louise Ogborn

This episode is brought to you lovely people by Carrie. It is kind of a mind control episode as it covers the famous Pavlovian experiment - fascinating stuff, about the scientist who measured the triggered responses of his dogs to various stimulus.  This is followed by the case of the young McDonald's employee, Louise Ogborn, who at the age of 18 suffered a 4 hour ordeal at the hands of an anonymous 'police officer Scott' who instructed, by phone the adults around her to carry out the most unimaginable crimes. What would you have done in that situation?

S7 Ep. 6 The Grooming and Murder of Breck Bednar

On the morning of Monday 17th February 2014 a call was made to emergency services in Essex by 18 year old Lewis Daynes. In this call Lewis requested police assistance, admitting he had just stabbed his friend to death in the bedroom of his flat. This was the the horrific end to what had been a years worth of on-line manipulation and grooming of 14 year old schoolboy, Breck Bednar.

Every parents nightmare, when Breck's mum felt something was amiss with her son's new online friend, she made Breck break off the friendship with this man who no one had ever seen in real life. She even reported him to the police...

Breck's family did everything possible to keep him safe from this on-line predator but ultimately it wasn't enough and Breck's young life, so full of promise was snatched away that awful February day.

With the current focus of child on child crime we decided to cover this case and bring some attention to the charity that Breck's mum, Lorin has set up in his name, which provides information and support in child safeguarding.

Here is Breck's story πŸ’™πŸ’™

S7 Ep. 5 Ariel Castro - The Cleveland House of Horrors

Welcome to the new episode of Blue Murder Club. Today we are going to be discussing the case of Ariel Castro and his Cleveland house of horrors. This is a case that shocked and horrified the world, revealing the depths of human cruelty and the resilience of the human spirit.

Ariel Castro, a former school bus driver, committed heinous acts that would ultimately lead to his arrest and the liberation of three women who had been held captive for a decade. Your favourite true crime podcasters discuss the abductions and crimes against 20 year old Michelle Knight, 17 year old Amanda Berry and 14 year old Gina DeJesus all committed by 40 year old Ariel Castro who happened to be the father of his victims school friends.

Castro used his relationship with his teenage daughters to make the young women trust him enough to get into his van and ultimately into his house at 2207 Seymour Avenue, where they were bound, beaten and savagely abused from 2002 until Amanda bravely broke free in 2013.

Amanda wasn't alone on her escape for during her captivity she had conceived and had a child. A schoolgirl on abduction and a mother of a 6 year old when she escaped.

We hope you enjoy our coverage of this remarkable case.

Blue Murder Club
S7 Ep .4 Ed Kemper - The Co-Ed Killer

This week's case is the infamous case of Edmund Kemper, the Co-Ed Killer.

Brought to by your girls Carrie and Lozza, Ed Kemper was a serial killer who was convicted of murdering seven women and one girl between May 1972 and April 1973. However this wasn't Kemper's first murder spree as years earlier, at the age of just 15, Kemper had murdered his grandparents and sent to an adult psychiatric hospital where he honed his skills as a master manipulator, managing to get released on his 21st birthday.

Believing Kemper was fully rehabilitated and no longer a danger to himself or others he was free to roam the streets of Santa Cruz, picking up hitch hikers, trying to push down the his homicidal feelings until one day it became too much. For almost a year he stalked and terrorised the area, especially the young female students of the nearby colleges.

Who knows how long he would have got away with it if he hadn't of handed himself in to the police.

Kemper is still alive today and has been studied by many law enforcement and psychiatric professionals, assisting with offender profiling for the FBI.

We hope you enjoy our show and that we manage to bring some little known facts to this famous case.

Source material for the research of this case include the excellent website Edmund Kemper Stories - Documenting the Co-Ed Killer case

And the superb documentary First Blood.

S7 Ep. 1 Joanna Simpson - The British Airways Killer

We are back after the summer break with the terribly sad story of the murder and subsequent miscarriage of justice of Joanna Simpson.

On the evening of 31st October 2010, 46 year old mum of two, Joanna Simpson became yet another statistic. Another woman killed by the hand of the man she once loved and who had loved her. Robert Brown was her estranged husband and father of her kids who that afternoon, right in front of the children beat Joanna to death.

This violent act was the culmination of years of abuse and controlling behaviour. We explore how domestic abuse comes in many forms and how anyone from any walk of life can become a victim.

Sources for this month's episode are the brilliant podcast, the Crime Analyst and the ITV show, The British Airways Killer amongst others.

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest episode of Blue Murder Talks. We weren’t aware previously, but October is domestic abuse awareness month here in the UK and during Crimecon last month we had the pleasure of meeting Lucy Wade, a leading campaigner for domestic abuse awareness and we wanted to do our bit in raising awareness.

Lucy works tirelessly to raise awareness of the difficult subject of domestic abuse. Her business and website You Don’t Own Me or YDOM.co.uk , is a β€œone-stop shop” helping people find useful resources, support services and access to knowledge shared by professionals.

Lucy also has a cracking podcast, Dip in and Out With Lucy, where she has some fascinating chats with domestic abuse professionals and survivors, you will be engrossed, we promise.

We hope you enjoy this episode where we chat with Lucy about all the great work she does and learn all about this dark subject that affects many of us, how it doesn't discriminate between young and old, rich or poor, men and women, and how it affects the whole family.

Bonnie & Clyde - The Original Natural Born Killers
In 1932-33 there was a small time criminal gang known as the Barrow gang, active in the surrounding area of Dallas. The gang were known and wanted for various crimes locally but worldwide notoriety was just around the corner for two members of the gang. In April 1933 police officers raided a house in Joplin, Missouri planning to bust bootleggers. However it wasn’t and was in fact the current hideout of the Barrow gang. The gang members fled so quickly that they had to leave behind all of their possessions including a camera full of undeveloped film. When that film was developed the photos were so explosive that a legend was born, the legend of Bonnie and Clyde.

S6 Ep. 12 - Dennis Nilsen - The Muswell Hill Murderer

Join Caz and Loz for this Series Finale of Bloody Britain and are we going out on a big case, the case of Dennis 'Des' Nilsen.

For 4 years from 1979 Des killed up to 15 or 16 young men and boys and was eventually only stopped when he blocked up the drains in his flat by attempting to dispose of human remains down his toilet.

As the police investigated the crimes they discovered he had been getting away with murder for years and had killed so many people that he couldn't even remember the precise amount. Dennis had very rare kink in his sexuality, he was a necrophiliac, and was only sexually aroused by the dead.

Des was convicted of several murders and spent the rest of his life in prison.

We hope you have enjoyed this series of crimes that took place in the UK and we will be back for Series 7 soon.

S6 Ep. 11 Stars Behind Bars

Hey y'all, welcome and join us, Cazza and Lozza as we take a look at when celebs screw up.

This week we are taking a light hearted look at the times some of the worlds biggest stars have ended up doing community service for misdemeanours. For instance, we look at the time when George Michael's Range Rover ploughed into a Snappy Snaps photo shop and the infamous events in the Hollywood hills, when Hugh Grant was arrested for getting a bit frisky in his car with a sex worker.

And who can forget the fashion show put on by Naomi Campbell at her designated community service destination - the New York City refuse department.

S6 Ep. 10 Rachel Manning - Miscarriage of Justice

Welcome to this week's episode, the case of the murder of Rachel Manning and the miscarriage of justice that followed.

On a cold December evening in the year 2000 a young couple, Rachel and Barri had been to Barri's mum's 40th birthday party and then went out clubbing in town, after.

In traditional style the evening ended with a kebab and a punch up before they went their separate ways home. Within an hour Barri received a phone call from Rachel, asking him for a lift as she was lost and was having difficulty getting a cab. Little did Barri know that this was the last time he would ever hear Rachel's voice, as shortly after she was abducted and murdered in a random attack, her body being found two days later.

This was the beginning of a living nightmare for Barri and his friend Keith, who very shortly after would find themselves prime suspects for the brutal crime.

Horrifyingly the pair were convicted and sent to prison for a crime they didn't commit on very little evidence.

In despair Keith wrote to everyone he could think of for help, including the BBC program, Rough Justice.

The team took on the case and after many years they finally managed to get the conviction overturned and the men walked free as innocent men. But if they hadn't killed Rachel then who had?

Listen this week as Loz and Caz reveal the astonishing details behind this miscarriage of justice case.
