Black People Go To Therapy, Too is a podcast about and for people of color. It’s about our experiences in our mental health journeys and about the positive and negative things we’ve experienced in the pursuit of becoming healthier members of our community. This podcast seeks to not only shine a light on the stigmas surrounding people of color and our mental well-being but seeks to engage our community in conversations about our experiences in therapy--good and bad. Session 11 - Ayanna

This week, we’re getting into Ayanna’s healing journey that has included therapy at an age as young as 8 years old, the unexpected development of a phobia anxiety disorder, and the positive impact of having parents who were just as determined as she was when it came to finding an effective & supportive therapist. If there’s one persistent truth throughout this session, it’s that our families/communities play such an important role in our movement towards well-being. SO, take off yo shoes and relax yo feet as Ayanna reminds us that the simple act of making space for our most authentic selves can be all of the self-care that we need.
