I was raised by an old school lady that told me I had to be better, do better and work harder than other people to get the same opportunity based on the color of my skin. I wasn’t allowed to explore, nor was I given the space to fail or make mistakes. I was taught to stay quiet, not draw any attention to myself and not ask questions. Times have changed, and so has the way Black Moms want to raise our children. Lots of us feel this way, but change can be challenging. It is always nice to have those people in your corner who will hold you accountable, cheer you on and offer you support.

BMD Bonus Episode The Mom Sacrifice

On this bonus episode of the Black Mom Diaries, we are discussing sacrifices of motherhood. We are excited that an audience member, Janine, is joining the conversation on this episode. We would love for you to join this conversation also. Hit us up on social media and let us know what you think. Does motherhood equal sacrifice? What's the biggest sacrifice you've ever made for your children? Can Moms have it all without sacrificing any big dreams or goals?
