I was raised by an old school lady that told me I had to be better, do better and work harder than other people to get the same opportunity based on the color of my skin. I wasn’t allowed to explore, nor was I given the space to fail or make mistakes. I was taught to stay quiet, not draw any attention to myself and not ask questions. Times have changed, and so has the way Black Moms want to raise our children. Lots of us feel this way, but change can be challenging. It is always nice to have those people in your corner who will hold you accountable, cheer you on and offer you support.
