
Originally founded for the advancement of previously enslaved people, Howard University has been a premiere institution for all races and social classes in the United States. Although the first 5 students were not African American, the school has fought valiantly over the years to maintain it's mission of Truth and Service, and to ensure that Black people remain at the forefront of the institution.
