I know we touch on a lot of intense topics in my episodes, but I want to drop a TW here for you just as a reminder. This podcast is explicit in a lot of senses. I trust you to care deeply for yourself In listening, to pause, turn off, leave, care for yourself however you need. Some of these subjects are very intense, and I trust you with you. <3

Asking for what we need is vulnerable af.

Taking ourselves seriously is vulnerable af

Sharing what we don’t want or like is vulnerable AF

Ever find yourself sort of sideways asking for things?

Fishing for compliments, expecting someone to read your cues and know what you need?

Taking your own needs seriously is vulnerable. Taking yourself seriously is vulnerable. That’s why so many people make light of their own shit.

Three simple ways to practice asking for what you need.

  1. Find a safe friend or coach or therapist who you know will most likely say yes to you, and ask them directly for what you need in conversation: I’m not looking for feedback, I just want to be heard. Can you hear me out and support me?
  2. Practice asking yourself before you start a longer conversation or share: What am I needing or wanting here?
  3. Practice saying to a friend or partner: I’m overwhelmed/tired/distracted , but I know this is important, can we chat about this in a different context/different time/ different format ?
