Bird's Eye View - Baltimore Orioles Unofficial Fan Podcast

Bird's Eye View is an unofficial Orioles podcast from the perspective of two die-hard fans. Here, we experience the ups and downs of Orioles baseball, and do our fair share of praising and mocking our beloved team. Our position from the cheap seats helps provide that “Bird’s Eye View.” What we bring is perspective. We offer content that will entertain, (very) occasionally inform, and more often than not, validate a little homerism. When it comes to the Orioles, this is your official source for a lack of insight, and baseless opinion.

Episode 415: Turbo Reaper

Leading Off

The Orioles won some games, this may have been the “best of times” we’ve been waiting for.

Alright friends, I’m probably delusional here, but I’m starting daily Orioles Finish .500 updates!After tonight’s WIN against the Red Sox, the Orioles are 59-67There are 36 games left in the regular season, and the O’s need to win 22 of them to finish the season at .500Let’s go O’s!— Jon With Tattoos (@jonwithtattoos.bsky.social) 2025-08-20T02:35:37.174Z

Around the Bases

First Base: Not a Terrible Week

This was not a terrible week of Orioles Baseball!

* 2 of 3 from Seattle

* 2 of 3 from Houston

* 2 game “sweep” of Boston

* Brandon Young pitches a near perfect game

* Beavers and Basallo come up

Second Base: Leadership

There’s been a lot of discussion about leadership since the trade deadline. Without a lot of veteran presence, guys like Gunnar and Wesburg and Holliday are being asked about leadership.

Is it fair to expect leadership from the young core? And if not, is Kevin Millar available to come out of retirement?

Third Base: Another look at the system

Now that the draft and the trade deadline are behind us…

What is the state of the Orioles’ farm system?

Home Plate: Realignment?

Rob Manfred opened up Pandora’s Box, and has all of baseball talking about realignment and expansion. None of this is likely to happen any time soon, but it’s as decent a topic to discuss while your team is on its second manager of the season, and can’t even see the Wild Card race.

Fantasy Boss

Jake streaks ahead to a 2-0 lead in the second half race, as his pick for OPS, Adley Rutschman (.267) outperformed Scott’s pick, Alex Jackson (.000). There was momentary chaos as Scott nearly convinced Jake he had also selected Samuel Basallo.

Fantasy Boss has gotten silly. These things will happen.

This week, the category is strikeouts – straight number of Ks. Scott selected Dean Kremer,
