Institute of Public Affairs
7 episodes
Increased social and political polarisation encourages deepening radicalisation and the spread of extremist views. Various attempts are made in Europe to counter this, but there is still much to be done and new challenges are on the horizon. We look at these issues in interviews with people exploring or preventing these phenomena in different countries. Together we try to understand the processes undermining our democracies and to identify concrete solutions to stop the situation from deteriorating. Podcasts are developed in REDE project, implemented in DISCO programme of the CoE and EU.

Part 4. Nathalie Paton from EHES talks to Filip Pazderski about how right-wing and Islamic extremists in Europe use social media to radicalise their audiences.

Researcher from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHES) in Paris describes the differences in the online activity of each of these groups, the international relations between their representatives and who are the most important influencers in these environments. She also shows how the activity of these groups is hampered by the algorithms that govern social media and considers how to counteract this.
