7 years after the original Starship Troopers hit cinema screens, a straight to DVD follow up hit our TV screens. This time directed by visual effects legend Phil Tippett, it focused less on action and went the sci fi horror route. Critics panned it but it was successful enough for a third part to also hit DVD shelves 4 years later. This time directed by the original screenwriter Edward Neumeier. It returned to the more action based sci fi and satire of the first movie and the original lead Casper Van Dien returned as Ricco.
