April 12, 2025 was meant to be a day of joy and laughter—a community Easter egg hunt filled with families and children. Instead, it became a day marked by grief and unimaginable loss.On that day, Deacon Eddie Shed of Empowerment Ministries Christian Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, made the ultimate sacrifice. While serving as head of security during the church's Easter egg hunt at Jack and Florence Goldin Park, a dispute escalated into violence. Eddie intervened to protect others, including children, and was fatally shot in the process.Witnesses recall Eddie's selfless courage. Eddie Shed is survived by his wife, Doris, and their three children.
