
Yuki Hirose, MS, a Tokyo-born sommelier, has transformed his passion for wine into a remarkable career, moving from a bar in Japan to some of Australia’s most prestigious dining establishments. After more than a decade at Sydney’s acclaimed Rockpool, he took on a new challenge with Lucas Restaurants in Melbourne, where he currently oversees the wine programs at Kisumé, Grill Americano, and Society, mentoring a team of 20 sommeliers.
In 2023, Yuki achieved one of the highest honours in the wine world by becoming a Master Sommelier, joining a select global group of fewer than 300. His journey was anything but easy; after six attempts, his success stands as a testament to relentless dedication, humility, and the power of community.
A firm believer in giving back, Yuki now shares the knowledge and mentorship that propelled him to success, while continuing to champion excellence, precision, and joy in wine service.
