What is Deception?

What is Deceit?

I think today, this is one of the most crucial subjects that most are unaware of, and most  read right over this topic, and never really research it. With the “internet age” and with most people having access to everything in this day and age concerning information, people are unable to discern between the truth and lies. Why? Because of this very topic.

Prov 26:24-28

The Hebrew word for “deceit” is ‘mirmah,’ and means “fraud.”

The word for “fair” is ‘chanan’ and means “gracious or pleasant words.”

A person that is trying to “deceive” will use pleasant and gracious words, all the while there are seven abominations (disgusting things) in his heart.

Prov 6:16-19

These are the seven abominations in a liars heart.

Fraud (from the Latin fraus) – to act or speak lies in falsehood (oftentimes unintentionally).

Psalm 10:2-11

Psalm 36:1-4

A person that “lies” or “defrauds another” does not hate evil. Sometimes they will even try to justify it.

Psalm 55:9-15

Sometimes it isnt our enemies that lie to us, or try to defraud us, many times its those that are closest to us, sometimes, those that we respect, honor, and look up to.

Psalm 101:4-8

We need to get to the same place that David was, and not allow ‘haters, liars, and evil doers into our homes,’ that includes the TV and radio.

Mark 7:21-23

Deceit – dolos, a decoy, a trick, subtlety, bait.

Col 2:8

Philosophy (love of imitation wisdom) and vain deceit (empty delusions) are the “traditions of men.” Most seminary schools is nothing but philosophy and vain deceits.

2 Thess 2:3-12

Deceive – exapatao, to wholly seduce one into believing lies.

Apostasy – defection from the truth

Verse 3 does not say “one man.” It says “the men of sin, the sons of perdition.”

A part of the “apostasy” is changing the translation to read “one man.” If you believe it is just “one man,” than you’ll only look for “one man,” and not see “all the sons of perdition that are lying to you.”

Strong Delusion – energeia plane, “energetic delusions or errors that cause to stray from orthodoxy.”

Orthodoxy – the practice of correct doctrine

Lies – “pseudos,” falsehoods, lies, fake, imitation, untruth(s).
