Saint Restituta, the Saint Who Came from the Sea
---
In the cultural tapestry of Lacco Ameno, the ex-votos dedicated to Saint Restituta are timeless expressions of devotion and gratitude. Offered by the faithful in thanks for answered prayers, these sacred tokens - ranging from modest medals to exquisite jewelry - each tell a unique story of hope and profound faith. They are personal tributes to the protector of Lacco Ameno and the island of Ischia.
The celebrations for Saint Restituta peak in May, with a series of moving traditions. On May 8th, the enthronement ceremony is followed by a morning procession that kicks off the festivities. On May 15th, the statue is dressed with the ex-votos, in a moving ritual that is both a remembrance and a renewal of spiritual connection, bonding the community to its beloved patroness. The Sacred Representation of the Landing takes place on May 16th, followed by the main event on May 17th: the solemn procession of Saint Restituta. As the statue, adorned with gold and treasures, is carried through Corso Angelo Rizzoli, balconies are draped with flowers, and petals rain down from above - a show of deep reverence and unity from the townspeople.
