Naloxone boxes to be placed at Baltimore metro stations in response to mass overdoses
Baltimore introduces life-saving naloxone boxes at metro stations to combat rising drug overdoses. The bright red boxes, stocked with naloxone, aim to provide immediate access to the life-saving medication in neighborhoods hit hard by the opioid epidemic. The city joins forces with the Maryland Transit Administration to roll out this overdose prevention program, following recent mass overdose incidents, including one where eleven people overdosed at once. Public health officials hope these new naloxone boxes will significantly reduce overdose deaths by 2040.
