Back to Basics: Events + Community was created from the idea of understanding the role events play in bringing together community. It was created in the midst of several global upheavals and a sudden loss of constant in-person connection. Back to Basics is about finding our way back to those connections in a new world. About finding and nurturing those connections through various events. In each season we'll be discussing the power of events/programming and community with various organizers, and sometimes little old me!

Building a Sisterhood with Roohi of Didihood

Join us for an incredible episode with an incredible human: Roohi Sahajpal, Co-Founder of Didihood. Roohi Sahajpal is a freelance writer and one of the co-founders of Didihood. Didihood (or the sisterhood) is a collective of South Asian women in creative industries across Canada spanning from the media to music, film, visual arts and more. Didihood's goal is to create networking and mentorship opportunities for South Asian creatives in cities like Toronto and Vancouver, lead workshops for university and college students to expand their skill set, and hear from inspirational South Asian women through panels and a monthly Q&A in our newsletter. Didihood also aims to create a sense of community among their members — ideally creating friendship and sisterhood.

This was such an incredible conversation on the move from in-person to online events and how to keep that community feeling alive and thriving! I hope you all enjoy! Don't forget to leave us a review on your platform of choice 🤩
