This week on B-sides, we step past the velvet rope into the glittering chaos of Studio 54—the legendary New York nightclub that redefined nightlife, broke boundaries, and burned out in spectacular fashion. We dig into the history of its iconic founders, the famous faces who lit up its dance floor, and the clubs that carried its spirit into the 2000s—like The Loft, Paradise Garage, Limelight, The Sanctuary, and Club 57. Then we take a turn into the haunting world of Club 27, remembering artists like Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Amy Winehouse—brilliant musicians gone too soon. And before the lights come up, we show some love to the scene today with two local bands we’re excited about: Leave it to Us and Popcorn Tales. It’s a night of disco balls, decadence, and the price of legend—with a nod to the music still being made right now.
