There are three stages in one’s spiritual development,” said the Master. “The carnal, the spiritual and the divine.” “What is the carnal stage?” asked the eager disciples. “That’s the stage when trees are seen as trees and mountains as mountains.” “And the spiritual?” “That’s when one looks more deeply into things—then trees are no longer trees and mountains no longer mountains.” “And the divine?” “Ah, that’s Enlightenment,” said the Master with a chuckle: "When trees become trees again and mountains, mountains.” I was looking at a sunset last Friday evening. An old man came up to me and said, “What are you looking at? You seem all enraptured.” I said, “I’m enraptured by the beauty.” He came back for two weeks more and saw me looking again last evening. He said, “I see the sun and the clouds and the trees but what is this beauty?” I said, “Beauty isn’t a thing but rather a way that you will come to see everything. Even the cracks in the sidewalk on a crowded street. Your society taught you what to look for but not how to see. Love sees through what hate looks at.”

Tao - In Everyday Language and Life
Keep it simple. Who's this guy know as yourself who's doing the understanding? You say you understand who Jesus the Christ is but you don't know Christ isn't Jesus's last name? Peter found out when Jesus asked, "Who do you say that I Am?" Peter's answer didn't arise within him from asking Pastors or studying scriptures. Because Peter knew Jesus's love towards him wasn't contingent upon Peter's past denials (x 2) while warming his hands by the fire, Peter didn't fear mercy nor a comforting fire. Wasn't about guilty pleas and incidentals. Jesus saw that coming. Imagine that. Can I make superstition less religiously embraceable? And can I make the supernatural more normal? "Born again" isn't nearly as much an emotional Jesus experience with arms failing and wheelchairs rolling and people pew hopping as we think. And if honest, it's embarrassing. Unlearn like children did by having yet learned that more is ludicrous by become like children. Jesus said something like this. Why? Unlearn the very religious dogmas that Jesus crucified and thus, Jesus now the Christ needs no middle management to distort. Holy Spirit. Not freaky stuff. Intuitive is more like this gift that even pre-baptism people had. Understand who you are. Guilty tripping aside, go silent, not introverted. Drop useless thoughts as you observe them. Weed the religious weeds. Now truth outside the Bible is able and willing to be the freedom that makes you free.
