Nietzsche, Genealogy, History

Friedrich Nietzsche is a philosopher put to many uses by groups of reactionary and institutional interests. His larger philosophical project, however, has always been about sense and subtleties and experiment, and for that reason, it is important to never read any quote or aphorism on its own, but engage with his texts in their complete depth.
In this episode, Shehzor gives you an overview of the book On the Genealogy of  Morals, and Michel Foucault's essay "Nietzsche, Genealogy, History". This covers important concepts such as "good and evil", "good and bad", "slave morality", "master morality", "ressentiment", "guilt", "bad conscience", "forgetfulness", "memory and responsibility", "origins and purposes", and "the ascetic ideal". The impact of these concepts and discoveries has been felt across disciplines, and will greatly aid our future discussions on themes like poststructuralism, affect theory, autonomism, and gender studies.
