#22 - Speaking out about male sexual abuse w/ Shannon Molloy (best-selling author of 'Fourteen' & 'You Made Me This Way')

Hey Changemaker,

On today’s episode of Authors of impact, Jas Rawlinson is joined by award-winning journalist, and best-selling author Shannon Molloy.

In this chat, Jas and Shannon discuss:

  • Shannon’s personal experiences with bullying, homophobia, and sexual abuse — and how he found the courage to speak out about his story
  • The inspiration behind Shannon’s new release ‘You Made Me This Way’ — which tackles male child sexual abuse — and why it takes the average male survivor 30 years to disclose their abuse
  • The problematic nature of defamation laws, and how Shannon navigated legal challenges in order to tell the stories of male survivors
  • How speaking out impacted his family, husband, and loved ones
  • And how Shannon balanced vulnerability with self-care throughout the writing process

This is an incredible conversation and one that you won’t want to miss!

You Made Me This Way by Shannon Molloy (HarperCollinsAustralia $34.99) is available from all major book retailers.
