AI Isn’t Cheating: How to Use It to Simplify Your Author Life This week on Authors’ Allies, Rebecca sits down with The Time-Savvy Mom herself — Martha Brown — for a heartfelt and hilarious conversation about using AI to simplify life outside of writing.
As a mom, business coach, and author, Martha helps ambitious women reclaim their time using a blend of AI tools, systems, and mom-tested strategies. In this episode, she and Rebecca talk candidly about the guilt and stigma many authors feel around AI, how to use it ethically, and creative ways to let it handle life’s chaos — from meal planning to chore charts — so you can get back to your words, your business, and your sanity.
They also dive into Martha’s upcoming book, MESS, a raw look at addiction, motherhood, and recovery with grit, grace, and just the right amount of sarcasm.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
How AI can help busy authors with everyday tasks like grocery lists, travel planning, and family schedules.
Why using AI isn’t “cheating” — it’s working smarter, not harder.
A sneak peek at Martha’s Cheers to You community — a supportive space for women blending business, family, and tech with heart.

This conversation was originally recorded for Kari Lowe’s podcast, She Ignites—and she graciously allowed us to share it here on Authors Allies so my listeners can learn more about me, my story, and why I’m so fired-up about helping authors. 🔥✨
In this candid crossover episode with She Ignites, host Kari Lowe interviews Rebecca Paciorek (that’s me!), founder of Authors Allies and the Authors’ Allies RoundTable. We talk about the belief I had to burn away to build a business, the “rule” I’ve happily broken about women and earning power, and my journey to losing 100 pounds over six years. We also dig into navigating video fears, dealing with online comments, taking up unapologetic space, and why “be nice” isn’t soft—it’s strategic. Plus: what Authors Allies actually does for indie authors and how to test-drive the membership for free.

Welcome to this episode of Authors’ Allies. In today's show, host Rebecca Paciorek sits down with the remarkable Laurel Hurst, who transitioned from ethnomusicologist to psychiatric nurse practitioner to bring the power of groove-based drumming to address the mental health crisis.
Laurel recently added "author" to her impressive resume with her new bookGroove Therapy. The book beautifully combines workbook, memoir, and instructional elements, even incorporating QR codes linking to videos of the drumming practices. Laurel discusses how she discovered the connection between mental health and physical movement through drumming after a serious car accident left her in chronic pain.
She explained that Groove Therapy sessions involve drumming along with familiar pop and American songbook tunes to engage people who may not be from drumming cultures. The sessions incorporate affirmations and primitive reflex integration techniques to provide mental health benefits. Laurel vulnerably shares her health struggles and strong Christian faith as motivations for her important work.
Join us for this fascinating discussion about the healing power of rhythm, why it's never too late to flourish, and how Laurel hopes to expand groove therapy's reach through future books and facilitator training. That and much more, coming up now on Authors Allies.
