My author interview with portal fantasy writer Stephanie DosSantos was fascinating, as we discussed Caribbean folklore in our Writers on Their Writing Process series. We explored storybook and folklore retellings, focusing on her portal fantasy series, Talin and the Tree, which draws heavily from Caribbean folklore.

Stephanie’s book, Talin and the Tree, follows Talin, a bullied outcast who stumbles upon a portal hidden within the island's sacred tree.
