Ancient poets used the name "Aurora" as a metaphor to refer to dawn. Some imagine that Auroras are the dancing spirits of their ancestors and some believe that they are the bridges of fire to the sky forged by the Gods. Spoiler alert, modern science does not think so. The phenomenon that causes Auroras is in fact much more dangerous and can potentially destroy the infrastructure on Earth. But our home planet has some tricks up its sleeve that help it control this and in turn, illuminates the sky with enchanting light shows. Tune in with Apeksha and Hema as they discuss the science behind these dazzling lights along with some interesting facts!
