"Does Walking by Faith Seem a Little Crazy?"
In this episode of Ask Mom and Dad, Greg and Tonya discuss what it really means to live by faith, especially when circumstances or well-intentioned advice from others seem to conflict with one’s personal sense of God’s leading. They explore how “general wisdom” or common-sense advice—while often helpful—can sometimes clash with a believer’s individual calling or the specific way God may be directing them. Using scriptural examples, they illustrate that faith can require steps or decisions that look risky or even ill-advised to outside observers. They look at Job—whose friends offered standard spiritual “answers,” yet missed the unique work God was doing in Job’s life—and Paul, who was warned not to go to Jerusalem but felt strongly led by God to proceed. These stories highlight how each person’s faith journey can differ greatly, and how important it is to encourage one another in obedience to God rather than impose our own interpretations or cultural expectations. Overall, they emphasize that genuine Christian support means helping others stay close to Christ, trusting Him step by step, and resisting the urge to judge or rely solely on worldly reasoning.
