Humans have been making art for a long time, starting in caves roughly 40,000 years ago. From those early beginnings we have constantly striven to accurately portray and make sense of the world that we find ourselves in. But as sunlit and enlightened as the opening of a cave may be, there are equally dark places the farther in you go: foreboding, dangerous, filled with fear and horror. We make art about those places too. Welcome to Artis Obscura, a podcast and web series where we ponder and explore art from the dark end of the cave. Follow along as host Kathi Rick explores unnerving art throughout the ages. Patreon.com/artisobscura
