EP47: ARTalk with John Cole Artist: Terri Hawke, Writer and Naturalist

Terri Hawke is deeply intuitive, an animal communicator and energy healer, naturalist, writer, environmental educator, and an animal guardian to Templeton the pom-chi, Trixie the chi-pap,and Maura the tuxedo cat. Her mission is to bring humans closer to nature by discovering ways to create a deeper connection to the natural world which encourages healing and provides joy. She makes her home in Washington State where she grew up. She has spent much of her life observing birds and wildlife and wandering around ecosystems all over the U.S. She enjoys showing others the joys of the natural world. She spends time camping and exploring. She has always felt safe in the natural world. She received her B.A. in Environmental Education from The Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington and went on to become an interpretive naturalist ranger at North Cascades National Park, Washington State Parks, Edmonds Parks and Recreation, and City of Seattle Parks and Recreation. She also worked for the North Cascades Institute teaching people of all ages about the natural world. She recently retired from 22 years as an environmental planner for a local government agency. This allowed her to refine her skills in writing technical documents, delineating wetlands and streams, and conducting wildlife and amphibian monitoring. She is trained in animal communication & energy healing with the Communication with All Life University. She continues to pursue knowledge to help grieving parents and to deepen connections between humans, their companion animals, and nature. She is happy to be a published author and has written a children’s chapter about navigating grief after losing a companion animal. She is writing her memoir in hopes of inspiring others about finding their way through life's struggles, including losing a child, to finding joy again.
