In his work with the Kansas Geological Survey, Senior Research Assistant and Field Hydrogeologist Ed Reboulet has collected water level data on the Ogallala-High Plains Aquifer for more than a decade. Drawdowns used to irrigate farmland in the western part of the state have depleted the aquifer, and Ed’s data show a consistent decline, signaling some tough decisions ahead for those who use and manage this precious resource.
