AIAA, I cant do adulting without God

Different people lean on different things as they do this adulting thing, it can be ourselves, finances, family, faith or a combination of all. For me, faith is the biggest thing. It is what I hold onto when seasons get rough, it defines my values, how I treat people, show up in the world and my big why (Because why the heck are we here).

In this episode, join my friends, Kyle and Mwangaza, as they share their faith journey, how their faith defines and drives them, encourages them and supports them as they do this adulting thing.

I hope you enjoy this, learnt a thing or two or felt encouraged.

XX,

Wami, Kyle and Mwangaza.

AIAA, I am a Parent

I feel like parenting is the most adulting thing ever, the ultimate AIAA moment. There is a whole human being that you bring into the world and that is entirely your responsibility.

On this episode, join Kay Sam and I as we unravel the emotions, challenges, and joys of becoming a parent from a male standpoint. How does fatherhood reshape one's identity? What steps are taken to prepare for this life-altering responsibility? And is it possible to foster a genuine friendship with your child?

Kay Sam not only talks about fatherhood, but we will explore other experiences such as co-parenting, losing a parent, community, masculinity and so much more. We hope you enjoy this episode, laugh, feel seen in the conversations and that you picked up some wisdom here and there.

Share your thoughts, reflections, and insights from this compelling episode on Instagram.

AIAA: I deserve good things

We don't always believe we deserve good things, we ask ourselves, who am I to get this or be here? And once you add the complexity of growing up poor and struggling to survive, these feelings get even more complicated. We question ourselves, the rooms we are in and constantly limit how big the world is and what we can get from it.

In this episode, join Faith and me as we talk about our experiences with these concepts and our evolution to a place of believing we deserve good things.

Remember, you are worthy !

AIAA: I am struggling to stay hopeful in a gloomy world

Have you realised that the world feels like its on fire or close to being on fire ? We are having wars, global economic recessions, extreme climate events, so much divisiveness and don't get me started on the state of most of our political systems. Maybe these things were always there and we just weren't conscious, but if we are being honest, it can feel like a lot.

On this episode, join Karl and I as we reflect on the state of the world as we enter adulting, how we try and stay positive and share some special lessons we are learning about change, the journey and why we can never stop hoping for it to be better.

I learnt so much during this conversation and I hope you do too as well.

XX,

Wamaitha & Karl

AIAA, I just Graduated

AIAA, we just graduated.

Graduation is a huge feat, and one that we should all be proud of when we achieve. However after spending almost 20 years of our lives in the educational system, the ending can feel a bit meeehhh and weird. It can also be lonely to now be thrown into this big, wide world and now be expected to know exactly what to do. It represents the changing nature of our relationship with our friends, lovers, parents and life how we know it. On this episode, join Gracie and I as we reflect on our AIAA moments around graduation, things we wish we did differently and lessons we are learning past graduation on life and everything else in between.

PS: Its cold in Nairobi, we both had colds so... 🤧.

AIAA: Lessons on love from my exes

From helping an ex get back with the girl he cheated on me with to doing a man's laundry after he played rugby in the rain to show that I am "Wife Material", your girl has truly clowned on these streets. 🤦🏽‍♀️

On this week's episode, join me (Wamaitha) as I talk about the lessons I have learnt about love from my exes, healing, truly learning to see and believe in my worth and when healthy love comes, learning to sit in it and enjoy it (definitely a work in progress 😅)

This was such a fun episode to record as I reflected on how far I have come and how much I have grown. And honestly, it also made me want to hug my 17/18 year old self, cause waaahh, my love, we have come from far. ❤

Disclaimer: I am in no way, shape or form implying that I was perfect in the relationships. I had my own flaws and had my own growing up to do. I am simply talking about my own experiences and how as I have grown older, I can take a step back and see the multiple issues in these experiences. I am also not saying these people are inherently bad people. They were not the healthiest experience for me but they might also have changed and evolved from when I interacted with them (actually really hope they did). T for Tenks.

AIAA: My evolving relationship with my parent

Have you ever realised that the older you grow, the more you realise your parent's faults and the more you learn to give them grace, and even as you heal, the more you give yourself grace.

On Episode 3, join Safari and I as we talk about forgiving our parents, giving them grace, setting boundaries, getting to know them and love them and our own healing journeys from childhood traumas. This episode was therapeutic to record and listen to as we edited it and we hope it warms your heart, and affirms you on the journey you are on.

Apparently I'm An Adult & Starting Over is Part of the Game

Remember how we used to say we were gonna finish university by 22, have a job by 23, get married, have your first kids by 25 and have a happily ever after?

Fate must often laugh at how wild and unrealistic these dreams were.

In this 2nd episode of Aparrently I’m An Adult, join Lewis and I as we delve into the adulting reality that starting over is part of how this game goes and share our own experiences with this and the lessons we are learning on this journey. Lewis shares his experiences with starting over career wise when he graduated and realised that on the grounds things are different, being drugged and having his savings stolen, losing his business and so much more.

Lewis’ story is a story of reinvention dispute insane setbacks and one that I believe we will all relate to in one way or another.

Apparently I'm An Adult & This is Not What They Promised

Apparently, we are adults, or rather we are supposed to feel like one. But I bet you, most of us are barely hanging on.

This is why we created this podcast: for it to be a safe space where we share all the AIAA (Apparently I'm An Adult) moments that have us losing our minds. And as we share our stories, lessons learnt, and things we wish we knew earlier we hope that we remind you that you aren't alone in this ghetto and that we are able to put a smile on your face.

In our inaugural episode, we set the tone with incredible vibes as we recount some of our own AIAA moments. We also delve into valuable lessons about patience and the pursuit of perfection, while expressing our aspirations for this podcast. We genuinely hope you enjoy listening to it.
