Good morning Apex and happy Wednesday September 10th. It’s been a picture-perfect start to the day with temperatures around 19 degrees Celsius, or right about 66 degrees Fahrenheit, and a big dose of sunshine overhead according to The Weather Network. By the afternoon, you can expect things to warm up, topping out near 32 degrees Celsius, or 90 degrees Fahrenheit, with just a few clouds and barely a hint of rain in sight. Great weather if you’re planning to be outside for any afternoon events or sports.
Speaking of the outdoors, for those of you with allergies, listen up. The state’s latest pollen report out of Raleigh, which is just a short hop from us, shows that weed pollen is back with a moderate count. Ragweed is the main culprit right now, so if you’re feeling a little itchy or sneezy, now you know why. Tree and grass pollens are both low at the moment, and the air quality is looking good around town with plenty of blue skies.
Let’s talk high school sports. Apex High’s soccer team delivered a thrilling performance last night, coming from behind to tie against Holly Springs 2-2 after a last-minute goal from senior midfielder Tyler Greene. Meanwhile, the Apex varsity volleyball team continued their winning streak, sweeping Green Level in three straight sets, with standout performances by Ella Jameson and Kayla Nguyen. The after-school traffic was heavy but spirits were even higher after those victories.
On the civic front, according to Apex Town Council News, there’s plenty happening in local government. The next Town Council Office Hours will be tomorrow morning at the Senior Center for anyone wanting to discuss community issues or propose ideas. Growth in Apex has slowed since its rapid peak in 2015, but new community projects are still on the horizon, including an update on the much-awaited Olive Chapel Road construction, where utility relocation is the big topic right now. Also, good news for book lovers — the Wake County Friendship Library is a step closer to reality at Old US1 and Humie Olive, an area some will remember as the recent home of the Food Truck Rodeo.
For housing updates, Homes dot com reports that 3005 Canopy Woods Drive sold yesterday for $767,500, signaling a steady market for move-in-ready homes with all the right features.
